Summer workshops

Financial Leadership for Executive Directors

Tuesday July 15th, 9:00am - 12:00pm

Executive directors are an important member of the finance team and often function as the organization's key financial manager. Created specifically for executive directors of nonprofits with small budgets, participants will discuss how to establish a culture of financial responsibility and accountability and how to define and manage appropriate roles and responsibilities for financial functions. Key topics will include how to integrate realistic budgeting into annual and long-term plans, how to understand and interpret financial information for different stakeholders, and how to work with bookkeepers, auditors, the finance committee and boards. Please be prepared to share your experiences and to ask questions of peers. Executive directors only.

Presenting Financial Reports to the Board

Tuesday August 5th, 9:00am - 12:00pm

Help your board reach their full effectiveness by providing them with useful reports. Staff can support the board’s oversight role through the format, content, and presentation of financial information. This workshop will teach nonprofit managers and treasurers board responsibilities, what the board needs to know, effective report formats, and how to train boards to use them effectively.
